Party Wall Surveyor
What do we offer through our role as a Party Wall Surveyor?

Mark Pearce can offer experience and extensive knowledge about The Party Wall etc Act 1996, since the day it came into effect in 1997, assisting Clients and Owners to understand their rights and obligations and helping them to avoid or resolve Party Wall Disputes with their neighbours.
Since 1997 Mark has been providing Party Wall Surveyor Services, through the range of Agreed Surveyor appointmets, Building Owner's Surveyor, and Adjoining Owner's Surveyor. In addition we can offer to review proposals to advise on the required Notices under the Party Wall etc Act 1996, and Serve them on the owner's behalf.
The sooner that a Building Owner takes advice on meeting the requirments of the Party Wall etc Act 1996, the more likley they are to make the best use of the Act, serve the correct Notices, and have the best possibility of avoiding delays to the project starting. A Building Owner is more likely to obtain a Consent from an Adjoining Owner if they serve the correct Notices in a timely manner ahead of the works starting.

The term 'Party Wall Surveyor' is not protected, which means anybody can call themselves one even if they have got very little understanding of what they are doing. There are a few unscrupulous 'party wall surveyors' that you should be mindful of. Your safest course of action is to appoint a Party Wall Surveyor who is also a Chartered Surveyor, and one who is also a member of a recognised Party Wall Organsiation. A member or fellow of the Pyramus and Thisbe Society [The P&T] is one great option to start discussions.
Firms that employ Chartered Surveyors and offer Services to the public also need to be Registered and Regulated by RICS, so not only is the Member held to account, but the firm is too. Look out for the use of the RICS Lion logo, and the words 'Regulated by'. The P&T also have a complaint procedure, and are a 'Learned Society' so you can be reassured that their members have access to some of the best information and training.
Mark has been a member of the Pyramus & Thisbe Thames Valley Branch since 2004. When joining the organisation was a 'Club', but has since become a Learned Society. Mark was the Branch Secretary for 3 years, including through the Transition of Club to Society, and in 2025 was the Branch Chair. Sitting on the Committee has meant that Mark has proudly carried the 'post-nominals' of a Fellow [FPTS], attending the Fellows' AGM and meetings. When his tenure expires at the end of 2025, the 'post-nominals' will revert back to 'MPTS'. Mark will then continue to be involved at Branch level as a committed member.
